How to correctly bleed your radiator
Keep your heating running efficiently with this simple step-by-step guide from Perceptive Heating

-
Turn off your heating.
Make sure radiators are cool before starting. -
Find your bleed key.
This small square-ended key fits the bleed valve on the top of your radiator. -
Place a cloth or bowl under the valve.
This catches any drips of water that escape. -
Turn the bleed valve slowly.
Use the key to turn the valve anti-clockwise — you’ll hear a hissing sound as air escapes. -
Wait for water to appear.
Once water (not air) starts coming out, quickly tighten the valve clockwise. -
Check your boiler pressure (ONLY if you have a combination boiler/ combi boiler or a sealed system).
Bleeding radiators can lower pressure — if it’s below 1 bar, top it up. -
Turn your heating back on.
Check that all radiators are warming evenly.
